Crimes Against Property Section


The Crimes Against Property Section is staffed with seventeen detectives and two sergeants. The section is responsible for recovering stolen property and returning it to its proper owner.

This section is comprised of four specialized units. The Burglary/Theft Unit investigates cases involving burglary, theft and criminal mischief crimes. The Economic Crimes Unit investigates cases involving “white collar” crimes to include fraud, forgery and Identity Theft, which is one of the fastest growing crimes in the United States. The Auto Theft Unit is tasked with the investigation and recovery of stolen vehicles to include automobiles, boats, and trailers, golf carts. The Pawn Shop Unit monitors activities of local pawn shops and second hand dealers making sure they are in compliance with all local and state laws. Information from the shops is loaded daily into a computer system to assist the Section in the identification and tracking of stolen items that were pawned.
