The Crossing Guard component is responsible for the direction and control of pedestrian
and vehicular traffic around schools to facilitate the safe and efficient passage
of children to and from school. The Crossing Guard is a civilian position, and there
over 80 Crossing Guards assigned to intersections throughout the County.
