The Strategic Investigations Unit is comprised of Narcotics Trafficking and Organized Crime Component and Drug K-9. Responsibilities include the investigation of organized crime, illegal trafficking of controlled substances and RICO investigations. Long-term investigations typify the activity of this unit. These targets are more likely to be organized and have a far-reaching network of criminal associations and or affiliates. These investigations may last years before they are brought for prosecution given their complexity. Often, the end result is that entire organizations are either dismantled, or disrupted and displaced as a result of these investigations.
