Person/Suspect Info
Deputy of the Month – February 2022
Dep. Randall Walker
On January 22, 2022, Deputy Randall Walker heard a vehicle crash call. Despite being on his meal break, he responded to the crash, knowing he was the closest deputy in the area. When he arrived, the vehicle's engine compartment was on fire and appeared to be intensifying. Multiple bystanders advised that no one was inside the car and the driver was out and sitting on the side of the road. Deputy Walker decided to verify for himself that the vehicle was vacant. He looked inside and saw a juvenile passenger lying motionless on the rear floorboard. The doors to the vehicle were locked so he used his ASP to break the rear window and open the door. The juvenile had a broken femur and was in shock. Deputy Walker picked him up and pulled him away from the vehicle to safety. He stayed with the driver and passenger, comforting them, until they were transported.
For his quick response and keen investigative skills that led him to look inside the vehicle, ignoring any danger to himself, Deputy Randall Walker has been named the Manatee County Sheriff's Office Deputy of the Month for February 2022.
